Principles of Safe Handling and Application of Pesticides - Foundation Unit

You will have to answer questions concerning the safe use of pesticides. There is a compulsory first unit, followed by options including knapsack sprayer, boom sprayer etc.

Course Content: Areas covered include current legislation relating to pesticide application, understanding of correct type and use of protective clothing, personal hygiene, understanding pesticide labels to ensure protection of the operator, the public and the environment. Storage, transportation and disposal of pesticide containers, surplus unused pesticide and washings. Dealing with accidental contamination of persons and record keeping. Environmental factors associated with pesticide use and storage.

Please Note: Trainees must be able to read and interpret product label information. They must also be physically fit and able to carry out the tasks required of the assessment schedule.
